Tottenham came from behind to beat 10-man Hull to leave the Tigers with only one win in 11 Premier League matches.

Jake Livermore powered in from 25 yards for Hull before Hatem Ben Arfa missed a chance for a second from close range.

Hull midfielder Gaston Ramirez was shown a straight red card for kicking out at Jan Vertonghen after half-time.

Harry Kane pounced on a rebound to level, with Christian Eriksen winning the game from 20 yards to see Spurs climb into the top half.

It was cruel on Hull, who battled valiantly after Ramirez's needless red card, but leaves Steve Bruce's men just one point and two places above the relegation zone.

Hull have won none of the last five Premier League games against Tottenham

Tottenham went into the match on the back of their worst start to a Premier League season since 2008-09, losing a fourth home game against Stoke last time out.

In that campaign, Spurs replaced Juande Ramos with Harry Redknapp and recovered after a winless first eight matches to finish eighth. Now, current manager Mauricio Pochettino will hope a third win in 10 league matches can prove a turning point.

Hull had been suffering their own Premier League woes, with the defeat at Burnley leading boss Bruce to label some of his players "big-time Charlies"., external

Hull's problems in recent weeks have been in front of the net, having not scored in their previous three matches, but that drought was ended inside 10 minutes as Livermore rifled a low shot into the corner.

The Tigers have not beaten a side above them in the table this season, but should have been firmly in control soon after when first Robbie Brady had a low strike parried by Hugo Lloris before Ben Arfa blazed over.

Red card changed game - Bruce

Hull's high-pressing game was causing their visitors real problems as a lacklustre Spurs struggled to create any chances of note in a dismal first-half performance.

But the whole pattern of the match changed four minutes after the break when Ramirez was dismissed.

Bruce was furious with the decision but, when Ramirez flicked his foot at Vertonghen after the pair came together in a challenge, he always looked as though he would be in trouble.

Only one of Tottenham's previous five defeats had come on their travels and they suddenly looked like they would continue their good away form as they took full advantage of their numerical advantage.

They were level when Kane slotted home after Eriksen's free-kick cannoned of the cross bar and, after heavy pressure, the Dane drove home a last-minute winner.
