Irish Premiership: Dungannon Swifts 2-1 Glenavon

Dungannon Swifts survived a second half onslaught from Glenavon to record their first home league win of the season.

Goalkeeper Alan Blayney spilled the ball over the line while under pressure after a Jamie Tomelty corner from the left in the seventh minute.

Matt Hazley slotted in from 10 yards after rounding Blayney on 29 minutes.

Ciaran Martyn turned and shot home low into the net midway through the second half and Conor Dillon was sent-off for dissent to the referee in added time.

After the Swifts opened the scoring, Andy McGrory saw a lot shot saved by Andy Coleman as the Lurgan Blues tried to respond.

Shane McCabe's slightly weak header back to his goalkeeper led to the Swifts' second, with Hazley shrugging off the attention of Dillon, before taking on Blayney and scoring.

After the interval, Martyn headed over and then skied the ball over from just a couple of yards out after good work from Eoin Bradley.

James Singleton set up Martyn for a superb strike, then Rhys Marshall saw a back-post header cleared off the line as the visitors continued to dominate and search for an equaliser.

Dillon's late dismissal completed a disappointing night for Gary Hamilton's side.

Ugly scenes marred the end of the match as Hamilton appeared to clash with home supporters as he left the pitch.

Dungannon remain 11th in the table but now have a six-point lead over bottom placed Warrenpoint Town.
