Preston striker Paul Gallagher is hoping he can re-establish his strike partnership with Jermaine Beckford.

The pair spent two years together at Leicester, lining up alongside each other on 26 occasions.

Beckford, 30, recently joined North End from Bolton on loan for the rest of the season, making two appearances so far.

"I played with him quite a lot at Leicester and when people know what you're going to do it's a lot easier," Gallagher told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"He's come in and settled into the squad quite nicely and it makes it a lot easier when you come into a club where you're doing well.

"The goals will come for him soon because he is a goalscorer."

Gallagher, also 30, scored and set up a goal as the Lilywhites won 2-0 at Yeovil on Saturday, their second successive victory following a run of three League One defeats in a row.

Simon Grayson's side have had to deal with the loss of injured top scorer Joe Garner and recalled Aston Villa loanee Callum Robinson last week, but Gallagher believes they can cope.

"You can't sit back and say because we've lost two players, we're not going to do so well," he added.

"We've lost a few on the bounce, but good teams come back and win a few on the bounce and that's what we've done.

"We want to try and achieve something here and promotion has always been the word, so losing Joe is a big blow for us but we're trying to do things out there."
