Eidur Gudjohnsen says Bolton Wanderers feels like home

Bolton signing Eidur Gudjohnsen says being back 14 years after he left the club feels like coming "home".

The 36-year-old Iceland forward has agreed a contract until the end of the season following a trial.

Gudjohnsen spent two years at Bolton from 1998 to 2000, helping them reach the second-tier play-offs twice.

"The opportunity came up and I couldn't find one negative reason not to, so it was a very simple decision really," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"It feels like home straight away again, which is a good thing.

"It's just a great feeling. Not only at the club, but the people here in Bolton are so friendly and we have such great memories, me and my family, from being here."

Gudjohnsen scored 27 goals in 77 games during his first spell with the club before he moved to Chelsea,, external where he won the Premier League, for £4m.

He then joined Spanish giants Barcelona, external and again won league title and Champions League winners' medals before moving on to Monaco.

Loan spells at Tottenham, Stoke and Fulham followed during his time with the French club, before stints in Greece and then Belgium with AEK Athens, Cercle Brugge and Club Brugge.

Gudjohnsen has rejoined Bolton with the club 17th in the Championship.

"It's a little bit like going back in time, but it's still got the friendly atmosphere as I remember it," he added.

"It's still got the great people around and it basically just confirms the memory that I had. I'm very excited and it's a very happy time."
