Swansea City: No extra motivation for Gylfi Sigurdsson against Spurs

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson says he has no extra motivation for Sunday's game against his old club Tottenham.

The Icelandic international left Spurs for the Welsh club in the summer after only playing 26 Premier League matches during a two-year spell at White Hart Lane.

"It's not down to how I play against Tottenham," said Sigurdsson.

"It's how I play for the team all season, that's my motivation."

He added: "I go into every game to win it even if it's a team that I've played for before or not."

Garry Monk's side have lost only once at home this season in the league and are currently eighth in the table, one point above 10th-placed Spurs.

Sigurdsson hopes their good form at the Liberty Stadium can continue against Mauricio Pochettino's side, following a disappointing 3-1 defeat away against West Ham.

"It's a chance for us to bounce back, we've been playing well at home, against a team that is tough to play against," said Sigurdsson.

"We need to make sure we are on top form and hopefully we can bounce back."

The 25-year-old says he holds no grudge against Swansea's opponents on Sunday, despite finding part of his time at Spurs mentally tough.

"It was a time that I really enjoyed even though it was hard mentally over a couple of months," he said.

"I played in some big London derbies, some Europa League games and with some great players, so I really enjoyed it.

"In football sometimes you have to make changes. I've changed and I'm very happy."
