A Reuben Reid brace helped Plymouth Argyle ease past Dagenham & Redbridge and move up to fifth in League Two.

He was left with a simple, close-range finish to open the scoring from Lewis Alessandra's cross.

And Reid turned provider for namesake Bobby after half-time, the midfielder doubling the advantage from 12 yards.

Reuben Reid then confirmed the win with his 11th league goal of the season, scoring from the penalty spot, while the visitors offered little in reply.

Plymouth are now three points behind the automatic promotion places, while Dagenham & Redbridge are just two points above the relegation zone.

Dagenham manager Wayne Burnett told BBC London 94.9:

Burnett on Plymouth v Dagenham

"We had a number of chances and I thought that we were probably the better team in the first half.

"They've hit us on the break and before you know it it's in the back of our net.

"We needed to get a few more balls into their box but I felt there were some real positives today.

"I've spoken to the players and I just said to them that everyone is going to be needed.

"We've got a busy Christmas period but I've got no doubts whatsoever with this group of players. We're convinced that we'll turn this around."
