Gary Hooper scored eight goals in all competitions for Norwich City last season

Norwich City striker Gary Hooper says he wants to win promotion after the club's 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

The 26-year-old provided two assists for the Canaries as they moved up to seventh in the Championship table.

When asked if he wanted to stay for the rest of the season, Hooper told BBC Radio Norfolk: "I want to get promoted. There's no point playing if you don't."

He has been at Norwich since signing from Celtic in 2013 but has scored just two league goals so far this season.

His involvement this term has been limited by a calf problem early in the campaign, having netted eight times in 2013-14, six of those goals coming in the Premier League.

After a poor run of form, consecutive victories have taken Norwich to within two points of a play-off spot.

"I think we were due a clean sheet and a lot of goals," Hooper continued. "On our day, we can beat anyone.

"The main is thing is two (consecutive) clean sheets. Now we need to win against Derby."

Manager Neil Adams added: "We saw what we're capable of, certainly with the ball, going forward. I'm really pleased with the overall performance.

"It was a little bit disappointing to get booed off at half-time when you're trying to dig in. That first half set us up for the second half."

The result leaves Norwich six points behind leaders Bournemouth, with just nine points separating all 12 teams in the top half.
