Burton Albion 2-0 Tranmere Rovers

Burton continued their 100% home league record under manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with victory over Tranmere, who remain in the relegation zone.

Rovers defender Liam Ridehalgh saw red for a foul on Kelvin Maynard and Damien McCrory scored the resulting penalty.

Shane Cansdell-Sheriff's header doubled Burton's lead from Matty Palmer's corner.

The second half had few clear chances as Burton, rarely troubled by Tranmere, move up to third in League Two.

Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told BBC Radio Derby:

"It was a good performance but it was not easy. I must say, they don't deserve to be where they are the way they played here.

"They do keep the ball really well, they gave us some problems at certain stages and tactically they were really spot on.

"I thought we came out in the first 15 minutes before the penalty and we were on the front foot and looked sharp. I'm very happy".
