Cardiff City: Russell Slade apologises to fans after defeat

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has apologised to Cardiff City fans for the club's first half display in their 3-2 home defeat against Brentford.

The Bluebirds left the field 3-0 down at half-time to a chorus of boos by sections of the home support.

Slade described the loss as "annoying" despite a fightback by his side after the break.

"I can only apologise for the first half. I'm as frustrated as they [the fans] are," said Slade.

The Bees took control of the match thanks to first-half goals from Alex Pritchard, Andre Gray and Jota.

Just moments after the break Craig Noone headed home a Kadeem Harris cross, before Kenwyne Jones hooked another goal back for the Bluebirds 15 minutes from time.

Cardiff pushed for an equaliser, but were unable to find the breakthrough to complete the comeback.

"For all the fightback, last week [against Bournemouth] and the fightback this week, we've picked up zero points," said Slade.

The Welsh club remain 11th in the Championship, eight points off the play-offs and 12 points off top spot.

The loss against Brentford, who move up to third in the table, was their first on home soil under Russell Slade, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's last match in charge against Middlesbrough in September.

"It's frustrating. That lack of consistency is annoying at the minute," said Slade.

"Certainly in the last two games, because it was similar last week [against Bournemouth] where we gave ourselves an awful mountain to climb.

"We've got to be ruthless in both boxes, we've got to clear, we've got to close down, we've got to do all those things.

"We need that consistency and we need to care for 90 minutes.

"The second 45 minutes is great but we are 3-0 down."
