John Sheridan's Plymouth Argyle have lost just one of their last 12 league matches

Manager John Sheridan says Plymouth Argyle are "looking confident" after beating Dagenham and Redbridge 3-0.

Argyle moved up to fifth in League Two and are just three points from an automatic promotion place following their 11th win of the season.

"We just look confident at the moment, especially at home," the Argyle boss told BBC Radio Devon.

"I thought we totally dominated the game with some good performances and some excellent football on the way."

The Pilgrims lost centre-back Peter Hartley - who was suffering from a hip injury - in the warm-up, to add to the loss of fellow central defender and captain Curtis Nelson earlier in the week.

It meant a league debut and first start for 19-year-old youth team player Aaron Bentley.

"He had a 50-50 chance and I told him to be ready," Sheridan said. "He knew who he was marking if he was playing and who would be the threats from the opposition, so I'm very pleased for him.

"He's a very quiet lad. I wish he'd talk a bit more because he's a good player, but as a defender he needs to talk a hell of a lot more. But I thought he did well today."
