Emile Heskey returned to action with Bolton's Under-21 side in a 3-1 defeat against Reading at Leyland on Monday.

The former England striker, 36, lasted 63 minutes of his first competitive game since April, when he was released by A-League outfit Newcastle Jets.

Bolton manager Neil Lennon invited his former Leicester team-mate to train with the Championship club.

Earlier this month, Bolton signed another 36-year-old, Eidur Gudjohnsen, until the end of the season.
