Northampton battled to a draw against high-flying Southend to earn their first League Two points since November.

The visitors took the lead when Barry Corr caught out Matt Duke at his near post with a low shot and Shaquile Coulthirst forced the ball home.

Debutant Ricky Holmes was denied by keeper Daniel Bentley before Marc Richards crossed for Lawson D'Ath to head in the equaliser.

Southend finished with 10 men after Luke Prosser earned a second booking.

Knill on Northampton v Southend

Northampton Town assistant manager Alan Knill told BBC Radio Northampton:

"I think Southend are one of the better sides in the league, but I didn't think we looked too far away from them.

"It's not often you get a standing ovation for a draw. Credit to the players and the subs, they all contributed.

"We just need to keep the players fit now. We're hopeful that Gregor Robertson and Zander Diamond will return next week at Exeter"
