Morecambe 0-0 Stevenage

Jack Redshaw's penalty miss proved costly as Morecambe played out a goalless draw with Stevenage.

The Shrimps' striker hit the crossbar from the spot after Kevin Ellison was brought down by Darius Charles against the run of play in the first half.

Scott Davies made a superb save from a Charles header and David McAllister volleyed narrowly over minutes later.

Stevenage's Chris Day was also called into action, saving Alan Goodall's shot and Stewart Drummond's header.

Stevenage Manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Westley on Morecambe v Stevenage

"It was a hard earned clean sheet, it was a point won with good endeavour from the players.

"I'm gutted for the player that the referee didn't see the penalty late on....what should have been three points turns out to be just the one.

Westley on Morecambe's penalty: "Dean Wells competed for a ball five yards outside the box and the referee saw him pull a shirt. Well I've measured his arms, they aren't long enough to pull a shirt in the box from five yards outside it. We're bewildered about that one.

"It was a competitive game, it was nip and tuck, they are two very hard working sides."
