Coventry City have extended on-loan defender Matty Pennington's move from Everton until 7 February.

The 20-year-old Warrington-born right-back was due to end his stay with the Sky Blues following Saturday's League One local derby at Walsall.

But after helping Coventry keep three clean sheets in his six appearances, he is to remain at the club.

"Matty's reached all our expectations both on and off the pitch," said Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley.

Remember to look both ways

Coventry City stand 17th in League One, seven points shy of the play-off places and only three points clear of safety.

"He provides us with versatility in defence. We've been really impressed by Matty's performances since he has joined up with us.

"He has been excellent, not only on the pitch, but in the way he conducts himself off it. It is a credit to the grounding he has received from Everton. His attitude has been superb."

Pennington is yet to make his Everton debut, but made 17 first-team appearances on loan at Tranmere Rovers last season.
