Frank Sinclair has resigned as boss of Conference North side Colwyn Bay.

The 43-year-old took over on a short-term contract in February 2013 and kept The Bay in the Conference North that season against all odds.

But the former Chelsea defender announced on twitter on Sunday that he had stepped down as player-manager.

"Resigning as manager of Colwyn Bay was the hardest decision of my career, but for the future of the club was the best thing to do," Sinclair tweeted., external

"I could not of dreamed of working for a better group of people in my first job in management, the experience and opportunity to learn my trade.

"It has been incredible, I've had some high points in my career but beating the drop in 2012/13 season, winning those six games was one of the best.

"I am proud that I have given 100% to the cause, and leave the club on and off the pitch in a far better situation."

Colwyn Bay are 15th in the Conference North after Sunday's 5-0 loss away to Boston United.
