Cardiff City: Owner Vincent Tan calls fans to club meeting

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has called a meeting with fans on Thursday so supporters can "share their views".

A crowd of just 4,194 watched City beat Colchester 3-1 in the FA Cup on Friday, their lowest ever at Cardiff City Stadium.

Owner Vincent Tan has been at the heart of a continuing controversy over Cardiff's rebrand from blue to red.

A club statement read: "Cardiff City recognises that one of the key assets the Club has is its fan base."

It continued: "In recognition of their importance, Vincent Tan has asked Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman and CEO Ken Choo to invite a cross-section of supporters and stakeholders for a consultative meeting, including but not exclusive to the Cardiff City Supporters Club and Supporters Trust."

The Bluebirds lie 12th in the table with fans turning against manager Russell Slade after the 4-2 home defeat to Watford in their last Championship game.

Cardiff City Supporters' Trust recently wrote an open letter to Tan calling for a return to the club's traditional home blue kit.

The statement added: "The purpose of the consultation meeting is to give supporters an opportunity to openly share their views on a number of topics in relation the Club.

"We care about our fans and their views are important to us."

Invitations will be sent out on Monday, 5 January.

BBC Wales Sport understands representatives of the Keep Cardiff Blue campaign will be among those present at the meeting.

Cardiff's next match is against Fulham at home on Saturday, 10 January.
