Goodnight (or Nos Da) from the BBC Sport Wales team.

So a good start to 2015 for Cardiff City who are safely through to the next round of the FA Cup with their first win since the triumph at Watford in November.

The Welsh club will surely hope more fans than the 4,194 who came to tonight's 3-1 victory against Colchester turn out for the Championship clash against Fulham on Saturday 10 January.

A reminder that you can watch the FA Cup fourth round draw live on BBC One on Monday 5 January at 1935 GMT.

"Sometimes, especially when you're having a bit of a dodgy times as we are now, you can get a bit of momentum from a win in the FA Cup... And we're into the next round."

  5. A Turner pointpublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2015

"How did Turner finish the game - two cynical take outs and the useless laughing boy of a ref does nothing. Colchester can't defend or they would be through as they were definitely the best team - boy Cardiff are poor!"

Cardiff need to score more in open play because you can't just rely on set pieces. Look at Freddie Sears, you can see why he's at West Ham.

  7. Still work to be donepublished at 21:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2015

"We need to get a platform to go again because we haven't been good enough in recent weeks... we haven't hit the heights and there's a lot of hard work to get there. But a win's a win."

Cardiff do need to improve their possession and pressing the ball higher up the pitch, but I do feel they can gain some momentum from this win. That was a banana skin and Colchester had nothing to lose.
