Aberdeen: Derek McInnes and Ryan Jack seal monthly awards

Aberdeen have not conceded a goal in eight consecutive league victories

Aberdeen have secured a double award boost with Derek McInnes and Ryan Jack being named Scottish Professional Football League manager and player of the month for December.

The Dons, who are top of the Scottish Premiership, won all four of their league games in the month.

In those matches they scored seven goals and conceded none.

Midfielder Jack, 22, has been one of the Dons' star performers during an impressive sequence of games.

The Pittodrie outfit stretched their winning run in the league to eight matches with a 2-0 success at St Mirren on Saturday to move four points ahead of champions Celtic.

"This is the first individual award I have won," Jack told the club website. "It's a great feeling, being recognised for doing well and it is also very flattering.

"I must obviously give credit to my team-mates as well. It is a team game and without the team doing so well it would be harder to pick up individual awards.

"The main aim for me this season was to remain injury free. I did pick up a slight injury earlier in the season but thankfully I did not miss too many games.

"The more games I play then I can get on a good run and be more consistent. That is my main aim, just to be playing every week and to try and play consistently well.

McInnes, 43, was named Dons boss in March 2013 and guided the club to victory in the League Cup last season, securing their first trophy in 19 years.
