Ronnie Moore: Hartlepool United unity pleases manager

Ronnie Moore recorded his first win in charge of Hartlepool against Cheltenham last weekend

Manager Ronnie Moore was encouraged by the "togetherness" showed by Hartlepool United at the end of Saturday's win against Cheltenham Town.

The victory - their first in 13 League Two matches - ended with a scuffle after Pools defender Scott Harrison and Robins striker Jack Dunn had tangled.

Both players were booked but Moore was pleased to see evidence of passion.

"I don't mean kicking the hell out of everybody but they had togetherness at the whistle," he told BBC Tees.

"Nobody hid from it, they were all over there and that's what I'm talking about being a unit."

Pools had not won under Moore before Saturday's game, and the former Rotherham, Oldham and Tranmere manager was pleased with a new vibrancy within the squad.

Striker Rakish Bingham, midfielder Aaron Tshibola and centre-back Harrison had arrived this transfer window to boost the ranks.

"The dressing room after the game was really good, people started to talk," said Moore.

"I didn't think we had anyone in the squad who could talk but all of a sudden we heard a few voices."
