Noel Hunt: Ipswich Town striker happy to wait on future

Noel Hunt's brace against Millwall were his first Ipswich goals since signing a short-term deal

Ipswich Town striker Noel Hunt has said a new deal at the end of the season will "take care of itself" if he continues to score goals.

The 32-year-old was on target twice in Saturday's 3-1 win over Millwall, a result that lifted Town up to second in the Championship.

"Hopefully every day I can get sharper," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"I just want to concentrate on the next game. If I keep doing my work, hopefully it will look after itself."

Hunt, whose older brother Stephen is also part of the Ipswich squad, moved to Portman Road after being released by Leeds United earlier this month and signed a contract until the end of the season.

The Republic of Ireland international made just 14 league appearances across 18 months at Leeds, but now has three goals in six games for Town, including a brief loan spell last month.

And he has put his resurgence in form down to his work with Ipswich assistant manager Terry Connor.

"'TC' and I have been working a lot on my finishing," he said. "We had a good chat on Friday about goals. It's nice to give something back."
