Swansea's Neil Taylor better than Martin Olsson - Iwan Roberts

Swansea City should keep left-back Neil Taylor rather than sign Norwich's Martin Olsson, according to former Canaries and Wales striker Iwan Roberts.

Crystal Palace have bid £4.5m for Taylor, while West Brom are also interested in the Wales defender.

The Swans have enquired about Olsson's availability, but Roberts thinks they should stick with Taylor.

"I don't think he's anywhere near the defender Neil Taylor is," said Roberts.

"I don't think Swansea can really afford to lose him because they haven't got cover."

Palace's improved offer of £4.5m for Taylor came after their initial bid of £3m was rejected by the Swans.

The Wales international is currently first choice at Liberty Stadium following Ben Davies' move to Tottenham in July 2014.

Swansea manager Garry Monk is eager to add to his squad during the January transfer window and signing a full-back is one of his priorities.

The Swans have approached Norwich about the possibility of signing Olsson, but Roberts believes they would be better served keeping Taylor rather than moving for the Sweden international.

"He [Olsson] got caught out twice for both Cardiff goals on Saturday and, as a manager, I would want my defenders to defend," added Roberts.

"If I was Garry Monk I would not want to lose Neil Taylor."
