Wigan Athletic are expected to turn down West Bromwich Albion's improved bid for winger Callum McManaman.

The Latics rejected an offer of around £4m from the Premier League side for the 23-year-old over the weekend.

The forward is Wigan's joint top-scorer this season with five goals in his 22 appearances and is contracted to the club until 2017.

Albion boss Tony Pulis said on Monday they had made an approach for McManaman but he was one of a number of targets.

After his release by Everton, Huyton-born McManaman joined Wigan in 2007 and had a loan spell at Blackpool before his first-team breakthrough at the DW Stadium.

He was named man of the match when the Latics beat Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup final.
