  1. And finally...published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

And with that, I'll bring Sportsday to a close. Just one bizarre story before I go, though, and it relates to tonight's cup tie at White Hart Lane.

As a sometime sub-editor myself, I know exactly how easy - and embarrassing - that sort of error can be. Sympathies to the Irish Independent's production desk.

Enjoy the football tonight, whether you're following Tottenham v Sheffield United or Gabon v Congo. We'll be back with Sportsday at 08:00 GMT tomorow. See you then.

England coach Andy Farrell - who worked with Gatland on the last British and Irish Lions tour - has responded to those comments today with a touch of bemusement.

Farrell told BBC Sport: "I'm quite surprised actually. He's thrown all his grenades two-and-a-half weeks out. I don't know what he's going to talk about for the next two weeks.

"He's just trying to direct stuff off his own team and that's what he always does, and by you asking the question now, he thinks he's won, he's laughing at us all!"

There is still more than two weeks to go before Wales and England get the Six Nations started, but already the verbal punching has begun.

Wales coach Warren Gatland hit a few jabs at a press conference on Tuesday, suggesting that England are unsure about their best midfield combination or how they want to play the game, and may not be brave enough to agree to the Millennium Stadium roof being closed because of the heated atmosphere it created when Stuart Lancaster's side fell to a 30-3 defeat in Cardiff two years ago.

Here's what Gatland said: "I'm interested to see whether they want to keep the roof open or closed because the atmosphere was pretty electric that night. So they may decide to leave the roof open to try to dampen down the atmosphere the crowd can bring.

"I hope they want to close it and are prepared to accept that challenge, but we'll wait and see. Probably teams will come and kick the leather off [the ball] against us because it's one way to play against us. So we expect England to kick everything."

Thomas was booked for leaving the pitch too slowly during Tuesday's 0-0 draw. But Clark only realised it was a second yellow when Thomas was in the dugout, having been replaced by Billy Daniels.

"In hindsight the ref - maybe - would have thought twice if he had known," Abbott told BBC Radio Nottingham. "In defence of the referee, if he had realised it was his second one he would have run over and ushered him off without the card. I have never seen a sending-off like that.
