Partick Thistle 5-0 Hamilton: First goal mine, says Jags' Doolan

Goal hungry Partick Thistle striker Kris Doolan insists he got the final touch to the Jags' first in the 5-0 win over Hamilton Academical.

Doolan was credited with the goal after nudging Ryan Stevenson's lob into the net and he scored three more times before Nathan Eccleston got Thistle's fifth.

"It's definitely mine," Doolan told BBC Radio Scotland. "I think every striker's going to claim it. It's a couple of yards out and I've just knocked it in."

Doolan fired low past Michael McGovern before half-time and then completed his hat-trick in the second period with a stylish back heel.

"That's a memorable goal," he said of his third. "The build-up play and then the finish with the back-heel is something special.

"We can go out and attack teams and when we play as well as that we can really, really hurt teams.

"Last season I was double figures and I look to go exactly the same again. I'm well on my way to that so I'll just keep building on that every week."

The fourth goal, a Doolan header, further illustrated Thistle's dominance and manager Alan Archibald said: "We played at a really high tempo. We got the goals at the right time.

"We made Hamilton defend and Dools took his chances.

"I thought with the overall team performance and how hard they worked, they got their just rewards.

"We're still short in certain areas. We're hoping there's a bit of movement [in the January transfer window]."

Hamilton assistant manager Frank McAvoy led the side from the dugout with interim player-coach Martin Canning suspended and watching from the stand.

And McAvoy said: "It's just a bad day at the office. We've conceded five goals and from our point of view, it's not been good enough.

"I'm absolutely gutted for him [Canning] tonight. He's been excellent with the players. The players have been fantastic and tonight is no reflection on Martin Canning whatsoever.

"He's been really, really positive. He didn't deserve that."

McAvoy will soon join former Accies boss Alex Neil at Norwich City.

"I've enjoyed every part of my 10 years at Hamilton, it's been fantastic," he added.
