Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp saw his side remain bottom of the Bundesliga as they continued their worst start to a season at this stage in 30 years

Borussia Dortmund moved bottom of the Bundesliga after resuming their league programme with a goalless draw at Bayer Leverkusen who dropped to fifth.

Freiburg's 4-1 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt earlier the day sent Dortmund to the foot of the table for the first time since November.

And in their first game back following a mid-winter break, Jurgen Klopp's side were unable to improve their position.

Ciro Immobile missed several chances to give Dortmund only a second away win.

However, last season's Bundesliga runners-up were indebted to defender Mats Hummels for a superb goalline clearance in the first half to deny Leverksuen striker Gonzalo Castro.

Hummels dived full length to head away a shot from Castro, who also put another effort over the bar before the break from an excellent chance.

Dortmund had opportunities in the second half to ease their relegation worries as they look to avoid dropping out of the Bundesliga for the first time since 1976.

But Italy international Immobile was guilty of some wasteful finishing as both sides shared the points.
