Carlisle United 1-0 Cheltenham Town

Carlisle ended a run of four straight league defeats with a vital win over fellow strugglers Cheltenham.

Charlie Wyke scored the game's only goal when he bundled in from close range after Antony Sweeney had headed a free-kick back across goal.

Sean O'Hanlon got back onto the line to scramble Matt Taylor's low shot away to maintain the Cumbrians' lead.

Taylor sent a free header wide in added time as Cheltenham failed to halt their slide into the relegation places.

Cheltenham caretaker manager Russell Milton told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

Milton on Carlisle v Cheltenham

"I can't fault the lads' effort and commitment but the game was decided by the small margin of a free-kick.

"We didn't create too much. The decision-making wasn't quite what it should be and the end product wasn't quite there either.

"I thought in the first half we broke quite well on them but didn't make the most of our opportunities.

"You're going to get highs and lows but you have to remain constant and level headed. There's definitely enough in the dressing room to get over the line, which I believe we will."
