Lukasz Fabianski: Swansea want to put things right against Liverpool

Lukasz Fabianski's mistake led to Adam Lallana scoring Liverpool's second goal against Swansea in December

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski says Swansea City want to make up for their defeat at Liverpool earlier in the season when the sides meet on Monday.

Liverpool beat Swansea 4-1 at Anfield in December and Fabianski says the loss still hurts.

The Poland international was to blame for Liverpool's second goal when his attempted clearance cannoned off Adam Lallana and into the net.

"It wasn't the best of nights," Fabianski said.

"But this is a game you want to play in, a second chance and an opportunity to put that right

Liverpool will arrive at the Liberty Stadium as the Premier League's in-form side.

Brendan Rodgers' side have won seven and drawn one of their last eight league games to close the gap on fourth-placed Manchester United.

Swansea return to action following an 11 day break, and after losing 3-2 at Tottenham on 4 March in their last game Polish international Fabianski hopes his side can respond against Liverpool.

"We have had a good rest (from the Tottenham match) and this is a good game to bounce back in," Fabianski added.

"We have shown with the way we put the defeat to Chelsea to bed by beating Manchester United what we can do at home.

"Liverpool are on a good run and playing well but hopefully we can compete against them and take something from it."

Swansea achieved 40 points for the season with a 1-0 win at Burnley on 28 February and Monk has challenged his side to set a Premier League points record.

The Swans achieved 47 points in 2012 under current Liverpool boss Rodgers and Fabianksi says surpassing that record is an incentive for the current squad.

"There are 10 games to go and we all want to finish the season well and on a good run," Fabianski said.

"So far it's been very pleasing for me and hopefully both myself and the team can finish strongly.

"With 10 games to go we are in a strong position where we can achieve something more than just being safe already.

"As a group and club we want to push hard and see where it can take us.

"Swansea is more than just one player, we have a good group of players who are willing to give everything and you can see that every week."
