Aberdeen can beat Celtic to Premiership title - Robson

Aberdeen midfielder Barry Robson believes his current side can still overcome his former one, Celtic, and win the Scottish Premiership title.

The Dons narrowed the gap to three points with victory over Motherwell while Celtic were involved in the Scottish League Cup final.

Asked on BBC Sportscene if the Dons could win it, Robson said: "Of course.

"We're still up there challenging. Celtic have a game in hand against us, but we're quietly working away."

Celtic defeated Dundee United 2-0 at Hampden Park to stay on track for a domestic treble, with Ronny Deila's men top of the Premiership and in the last eight of the Scottish Cup.

The Dons though are in superb form as well, having lost just one of their last 15 Premiership matches, and Robson said: "The next two months, let's just get our heads down, every player, coaching staff, everyone at the football club and concentrate and work hard.

"We just need to focus and be ready for every single game and just concentrate on football, football, football for two months."

Aberdeen players have consistently avoided speaking publicly about being potential title winners, but Robson concedes they do discuss it in the dressing room.

"Boys will talk about it privately to each other," admitted Robson, who was part of Celtic's title-winning side in the 2007-08 season.

"But it is about getting your focus on every single game, every day preparing yourself right and getting ready for a Saturday and hopefully winning as many games as we can going into the run-in."
