Sam Ricketts: Swindon 'in talks' with Wolves defender

Sam Ricketts has made 51 appearances for Wolves but is out of contract in the summer

Wolves club captain Sam Ricketts has held talks with Swindon over a potential loan move, Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has confirmed.

Ricketts had been linked with a move to Coventry but their League One rivals have now come in for the 33-year-old.

The Wales defender has not played a competitive game for Championship side Wolves since November and was made available for loan in January.

"The two clubs are talking," Jackett told BBC Sport.

"Swindon have made an enquiry but they haven't got a game for two weeks now."

Ricketts will be at Molineux for Friday's home game with Derby County, in the additional coaching role that he has taken on with the club during the past few weeks.

Capped 52 times by his country, Ricketts has been named in Chris Coleman's squad to face Israel in a Euro 2016 qualifier on 28 March.

Swindon, who are third in League One, do not have a game this weekend as scheduled opponents Walsall are playing Bristol City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley.

Ricketts, whose grandfather Norman played for Swindon, is out of contract in the summer and has only made four Championship appearances so far this season.
