Chelsea Ladies goalkeeper Marie Hourihan says winning trophies is the club's main target for the new season.

The Blues were the runners-up in Women's Super League One last season and reached the semi-finals of both the Continental Cup and the FA Women's Cup.

"The hope is to go one better than last year," Hourihan, 28, told BBC Sport.

"Missing out on the league title on the final day was a big disappointment. Pre-season has gone very well. Now our main ambition is to win silverware."

An accountant by trade, the ex-England Under-23 international joined Chelsea from WSL1 rivals Birmingham City Ladies in July 2013.

Hourihan's Chelsea teammates Claire Rafferty, Katie Chapman, and Eni Aluko were all part of the England squad that won the Cyprus Cup earlier this month.

"The players coming back (from Cyprus) are very upbeat. They are just chomping at the bit for the start of the season now, feeling re-invigorated.

"It's always good to have a a successful England team and a winning mentality. It only bodes well for us as a team."

Chelsea host Watford in the FA Women's Cup on Sunday 22 March before travelling to Notts County Ladies a week later for their first league game.

There will be 16 WSL commentaries live on BBC 5 live Sports Extra this season in total, the next of which sees defending champions Liverpool host newly-promoted Sunderland on Wednesday 25 March.
