Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster's knee injury against Burnley leaves England short of options for Friday's Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania.

The 27-year-old former Celtic man and Manchester City's Joe Hart were the only keepers named in the squad.

It means Roy Hodgson could draft in QPR's Rob Green, or England Under-21 international Jack Butland.

"Fraser is at hospital and it is looking bad," Saints boss Ronald Koeman told BBC Sport after their 2-0 win.

"We have to wait for the scan. I hope it will be OK for him but the doctor is not positive."

Striker Shane Long, who scored the first goal, added: "We are all devastated for him, he has been immense all season and kept the most clean sheets in the league. We are all worried about him."

Kelvin Davis, 38, came on to replace Forster against Burnley, making a string of saves in the Saints' Premier League victory, and joked "a spot had opened up in the England side" after Forster's injury.

Group E leaders England meet Lithuania at Wembley in their latest qualifier next week before a friendly in Turin against Italy on 31 March.
