Centre-back Vyan Sampson, 18, had been expected to break into the Arsenal first team this season
Arsenal Ladies defender Vyan Sampson will be out for around four months after having surgery on a knee injury.
The 18-year-old, who made her debut for the Gunners against Everton in 2014, suffered the injury during training.
The former Charlton Athletic youngster has represented England at Under-17 and Under-19 level.
Arsenal, who beat Millwall Lionesses 7-0 in the FA Women's Cup on Sunday, will start their league campaign away to Notts County on Thursday, 2 April.
