Veteran Arsenal winger Rachel Yankey believes she is capable of performing for England at this summer's World Cup.

The 35-year-old, who is England's second-most capped senior player with 129 appearances, has not played for her country since Mark Sampson became head coach in December 2013.

"I am still available," Yankey said. "At this moment I'm not being picked.

"I've made it clear that I want to play for England. I still think I'm good enough, but that's up to the manager."

The former Fulham and Birmingham player made her senior England debut in 1997 and was part of England's Euro 2013 squad.

Only Liverpool midfielder Fara Williams, with 138 England appearances, has more caps than Yankey.

"I haven't retired from international football and I haven't been told that I'm definitely not playing, so I've got to look at it that I've got as much chance as any other player in the WSL," Yankey added.

"The team that goes (to Canada), their job is to go and do well and hopefully push on women's football in this country.

"Whether I'm a part of that or not, I'm still an England fan wanting everybody to do well. If I'm there - brilliant, and I'll play as well as I can."

England face China in an international friendly on 9 April before World Cup group-stage games in June against France, Mexico and Colombia.

Arsenal begin their Women's Super League season against Notts County at Meadow Lane on Thursday.
