Swansea City manager Garry Monk says next season is "probably the biggest in the club's history" as they try to ensure a share of the new record TV deal the following year.

Sky and BT Sport have paid a record £5.136bn for live Premier League TV rights for three seasons from 2016-17 - a 70% increase on the current deal.

Monk believes Swansea's summer transfer policy is key to ensure they stay up.

"I'm not looking to push any players out," he said.

"I want to build on the quality that I already have. Add quality not take away quality.

"It's an important season for us, to finish the season as strong as possible and put that way of working into them.

"Next season is probably one of the biggest in the club's history... if you look at the rewards for next season with all the TV rights and the money the club can gain.

"It's massive that we don't lose any quality in the summer and we only add to it which is why it's so important for the club and for us next season."

The Swans are currently in talks with Neil Taylor about a new contract, something which Monk says is "on going".

Monk meanwhile is continuing to draw up a shortlist of summer transfer targets.

But he says the club will not over spend.

"I think when we sold Wilfried [Bony] for that amount of money everyone thought that's instantly what you've got to spend on other players," added Monk.

"Of course we need to strengthen the squad, but the academy, the first team training ground, the stadium expansion, all these types of things cost money.

"A lot of that money will go on the infrastructure.

"I'm not naive enough to say I'm not focusing on bringing players in and of course there has to be a pot of money for us to be able to do that.

"But as always with the club it's about doing it when it's affordable."

Swansea City, who are eighth in the Premier League, host 15th-placed Hull City on Saturday.
