Torquay United manager Chris Hargreaves has added former Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock to his backroom staff.

Sturrock, 58, who had two spells in charge of Plymouth, has been out of work since leaving Southend in 2013.

The Gulls say he will "help with the rebuilding process for the rest of the season and planning for recruitment".

"Having someone with a football knowledge and still with a love for the game is something positive to feed off," Hargreaves told the club website., external

"The process of planning for the future has to begin now."

Hargreaves says Sturrock has "huge experience" and could bring in players who will help the Devon club challenge for promotion next season.

"We know the type of squad and the type of player we want lining up on the opening day of the new campaign," he added.

"If Paul can help us identify and recruit the right type of players that will make Torquay a stronger unit when the new season starts, it is an opportunity we would be foolish to ignore.

"This summer is our chance to reflect, refresh and rebuild."
