Striker Denny Johnstone salvaged a draw for League Two leaders Burton against Carlisle United with the last kick of the game.

Carlisle led after two minutes as captain Danny Grainger struck a stunning 25-yard free-kick.

Burton's Damien McCrory had a penalty saved on 93 minutes before Johnstone scored in the ninth minute of injury time.

The result leaves Burton two points clear at the top of the league.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side will be promoted to League One if they beat Morecambe on Saturday, and Bury draw or lose against Portsmouth.

Carlisle looked set to go eight points clear of the relegation zone when keeper Mark Gillespie saved McCrory's kick after Stuart Beavon had won a penalty.

But on-loan Birmingham striker Johnstone struck even later into injury time with a left-foot shot.

Burton Albion manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told BBC Radio Derby:

"You have to be patient and keep on passing the ball and finding the gaps.

"It was not easy but I think we have created enough to win three matches. We hit the bar, we hit the post, and their keeper has made five good saves.

"He was their man of the match so I can't complain. On a better day we would have scored three or four goals. I'm proud of the boys. They kept going until the last minute."
