Jane Ross equalised for Scotland in the second half

Scotland women's head coach Anna Signeul is hoping goalkeeper Gemma Fay's injury is not serious after she limped off in the 1-1 friendly draw with Australia.

The 33-year-old Celtic player was outstanding in Falkirk, beaten only by Laura Alleway's scrambled goal.

Jane Ross scored Scotland's equaliser, while Kim Little missed a penalty for the hosts.

"Hopefully it's not serious, because it was a kick in the knee," Signeul said.

"She had a very good game today, even with the balls that she sometimes struggles with.

"They played quick, penetrating passes and she had to be quick out of her goal for shots and had to put two on to the bar."

Australia, who are preparing for this summer's World Cup in Canada, slowly took control, with Fay denying Michelle Heyman from close range and keeping out Lisa De Vanna's chip.

Heyman should have put them in front when she rounded Fay and dragged a weak shot wide.

Two key moments within six minutes shaped the game. Lisa Evans won a penalty, but goalkeeper Brianna Davey saved Little's effort.

And Scotland were punished when they could not clear a goalmouth scramble and Alleway bundled the ball over the line.

Scotland, who always looked a threat with their pace on the wing, found an equaliser when Ross slipped away from her marker and diverted Evans's pass into the corner.

Fay was replaced after saving at the feet of Sam Kerr, who appeared to challenge for the ball with her studs up.

"We knew they would be fast and physical, especially the three up front," said Signeul.

"We are getting more and more solid and we are defending better.

"We need to be better defending crosses now and on corners. But, attacking-wise, we played some really good football. It was very positive."
