Barcelona believe Dani Alves wants to stay at the Nou Camp, despite reports linking the Brazil right-back with a summer move to England.

Alves, 31, is out of contract at the end of the season and yet to agree a new deal with the Spanish leaders.

Alves, who has been heavily linked with Manchester United, external and Liverpool,, external has played more than 250 times for Barca.

"He is an important player who contributes a lot," said club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"I hope he renews. We have asked him to and we're discussing it.

"I know he'd like to stay and Barca want him to stay."

Alves, signed from Sevilla in 2008, has made 40 appearances this season as the Catalan giants chase a league, Champions League and Copa Del Rey treble.

Barca are two points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid with three matches left in the Spanish top flight.

Luis Enrique's side host German champions Bayern Munich, now managed by former Barca boss Pep Guardiola, in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

Athletic Bilbao will be their opponents in the Spanish Cup final on 30 May.
