Relegated Conference club AFC Telford United have been fined £500 and deducted three points for fielding an ineligible player.

Paperwork for the extension of Bolton youngster Glenn Matthews' loan had not been submitted in time for the win against Lincoln on 11 April.

The points deduction means Telford drop below Dartford into 23rd place in the Conference table.

The club have announced they will not be appealing against the decision.

The decision would only have a potential impact if any of the clubs promoted from the Conference North and South - Barrow, Guiseley, Bromley or Boreham Wood - are refused entry to the top flight of non-league football because their ground is not judged to be up to standard.

Meanwhile, Telford have accepted defender Neil Byrne's request to be placed on the transfer list.

The 22-year-old former Nottingham Forest trainee made 38 league appearances for the club this season.
