John Sheridan to consider future after Plymouth Argyle play-off loss

Plymouth Argyle boss John Sheridan has said he will consider his position at the club after their 5-3 aggregate defeat to Wycombe in the play-offs.

The Pilgrims lost the second leg 2-1 at Adams Park to end their hopes of reaching the League Two Wembley final.

"I'll reflect on it and think about my position," Sheridan told BBC Devon.

"The club wants to go forward and be successful and whether I'm the right man I don't know, but we'll wait and see. I'm just very down at the moment."

The Devon side went into the second leg needing to overturn a 3-2 deficit, but two first-half Wycombe goals made the task almost impossible.

Sheridan has one year left on his Plymouth contract, having been appointed in January 2013.

"I kept faith with my team and the same formation but the first half was probably the worst performance I've seen from any team I've managed," he added.

"We didn't give the support anything to get excited about in the first half, I don't think we turned up. It's ridiculous how I can say that in a play-off game.

"When you look at the second half performance and you look at the first half performance I've picked the wrong team - that's my fault, it's not the players fault."

Wycombe will contest the play-off final with Southend, who beat Stevenage 4-2 on aggregate after extra-time.
