Juventus rested key players ahead of the Italian Cup final against Lazio as they beat Inter Milan, thanks to Alvaro Morata's late winner.

The Turin club go in the search of the second part of a treble on Wednesday having already won the Serie A title and reached the Champions League final.

Mauro Icardi put Inter ahead but Claudio Marchisio equalised from the spot before Morata secured the points.

Gianluigi Buffon, Carlos Tevez, Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo all sat out.

Only four players from Juve's starting line-up from the aggregate win over Real Madrid were named in coach Massimo Allegri's side for the match at San Siro.

The Italian champions fell behind early on when Icardi got the final touch on Marcelo Brozovic's fierce drive to direct the ball past reserve goalkeeper Marco Storari.

Juve were awarded a penalty three minutes before half-time when former Manchester United centre-back Nemanja Vidic brought down Alessandro Matri, and Marchisio dispatched the spot-kick.

Seven minutes from time Spain striker Morata, who scored the crucial goal in Juve's 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu earlier this week, arrowed a low shot past Samir Handanovic in the Inter goal from the edge of the box.

Meanwhile, Lazio edged a step closer to Champions League spot with a 1-0 win at Sampdoria thanks to a goal that went in off the shin of Santiago Gentiletti.

The victory lifted Lazio two points above city rivals Roma into second place, although Roma will regain the position with a win over Udinese on Sunday.
