Bastian Schweinsteiger scored on his 500th appearance for Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga champions lost to relegation battlers Freiburg.
Bayern won their 25th German title last month but have now lost five of their last six games in all competitions.
Midfielder Schweinsteiger put Bayern in front but Admir Mehmedi equalised for Freiburg before strike partner Nils Petersen grabbed a late winner.
Hamburg dropped into the relegation zone after a 2-1 loss at Stuttgart.
Hamburg, the six-time German champions and 1983 European Cup winners, are the only side to have played in every season of the Bundesliga since it was created in 1963.
Midfielder Gojko Kacar put the visitors ahead, but Stuttgart captain Christian Gentner levelled and Martin Harnik secured all three points for the hosts, who moved above their opponents in the battle to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, second-placed Wolfsburg clinched a 2-1 home win over Borussia Dortmund in a dress rehearsal for the German Cup final on 30 May.
Wolfsburg midfielder Daniel Caligiuri put the hosts ahead, only for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty to haul Europa League-chasing Dortmund level.
However, Brazilian defender Naldo ensured second-placed Wolfsburg won to consolidate their grip on second spot.
Elsewhere, bottom side Paderborn lost 1-0 at Schalke, Hannover enhanced their survival prospects with a 2-1 win at Augsburg, while Hertha Berlin are not out of trouble yet after a goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Mainz ensured they will be in the Bundesliga next season after a 2-0 win over Cologne, third-placed Borussia Monchengladbach eased to a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen while Bayer Leverkusen eased to a 2-0 win over Hoffenheim.
