Tranmere Rovers have signed Mansfield defender Ritchie Sutton on a two-year deal, which will start on 1 July.

The 29-year-old spent four years with the Stags and helped them win the Conference title in 2012-13.

The former Crewe and Port Vale man made 38 appearances last term and was sent off against Portsmouth in their penultimate game of the season.

"He's a no-nonsense type of defender who takes pride in keeping clean sheets," said Rovers boss Gray Brabin.

"He's an honest lad who defends first and foremost, and I believe he'll be an excellent addition to the squad."
