Portsmouth have signed Doncaster winger Kyle Bennett on a two-year contract.

Bennett, 24, joined Doncaster in July 2011 and had loan spells at Crawley and Bradford before making 50 appearances for the League One club this term.

His arrival comes on the same day Pompey sold midfielder Jed Wallace to Championship side Wolves.

"This is a massive club with a great fan base and the manager expressed a desire to bring me here," Bennett told Pompey's website., external

"I know he's very attack-minded - which is good for players like me - so that also helped me make this decision.

"I've had a few other offers from the league above, but I certainly don't see this as a backward step.

"This club are looking to go somewhere and I want to be a part of that. I know what it takes to win promotion from this division because I've done it before."

Doncaster boss Paul Dickov told BBC Radio Sheffield on Wednesday he was disappointed with the nature of Bennett's departure.

Dickov claims the League One club had struck a deal with the player, before he signed for League Two Pompey.

"We put an offer to Kyle and he shook my hand and agreed verbally to it," he said.

"The disappointing thing from my point of view is that the club has looked after Kyle fantastically for the last four years."
