Darren Randolph: Goalkeeper joins West Ham on free transfer

Darren Randolph missed just one league game in two seasons for Birmingham City

West Ham United have signed goalkeeper Darren Randolph on a free transfer from Championship side Birmingham City.

The Republic of Ireland international, 28, will move to Upton Park on 1 July after his current contract at St Andrew's expires.

Former Charlton and Motherwell goalkeeper Randolph, who has been capped twice by his country, started 45 games during the 2014/15 season.

"I felt like I couldn't turn down the chance," he told the club's website.

Randolph, who had turned down the offer of a new contract at St Andrew's, is expected to provide cover for first-choice keeper Adrian.

He has been named in Ireland's provisional squad to face England in a friendly and Scotland in a Euro 2016 qualifier next month.

Meanwhile, Birmingham are reported to be interested in out-of-contract Swindon Town keeper Wes Foderingham as a possible replacement. But the 24-year-old is only one of a number of different goalkeepers they are considering at the moment.
