Gareth Bale: Wales forward 'deserves' finals spot - Neil Taylor

Left-back Neil Taylor says he and his Wales team-mates want to make sure Gareth Bale reaches the finals of a major tournament.

Real Madrid's Bale marked his 50th cap with the winner in the Euro 2016 qualifier with Belgium.

The 1-0 win puts Wales three points clear in Group B with four games remaining and in a strong position to reach the finals in France.

"He deserves to be at a major finals," Swansea defender Taylor said of Bale.

"He has ability beyond everyone else on the football pitch which allows him to do the stuff he does.

"We want to get there together. We all want to be there and helping each other. We want to make something of where we are.

"We want to achieve something at international level and we are well on our way to doing that."

The top two teams from the nine qualifying groups will qualify for the Euro 2016 finals in France, as well as the third-placed side with the most points.

Eight other third-placed teams will play-off over two legs to provide another four sides.

Wales have 14 points from their six games in Group B, which gives them a three-point lead over Belgium and a five-point advantage over Israel and Cyprus in joint third.

Chris Coleman's side would virtually clinch their place at the Euro 2016 finals in France by beating Cyprus and Israel in their September double-header.

The game against Israel and October's final qualifier against Andorra will be played at Cardiff City Stadium, which was a sell-out for the Belgium game.

Swansea City defender Taylor says the atmosphere at Cardiff City Stadium for the Belgium game was justification why the players were against switching to the larger Millennium Stadium.

"We didn't want to go to the Millennium," Taylor added.

"The pitch wasn't great there for a few years and we thought 'why change something'. We're doing well here [at Cardiff City Stadium].

"The atmosphere here is great and the fans are really enjoying themselves and pushed us over the line again."
