Women's World Cup 2015 wide open for England - Toni Duggan

England can win the Women's World Cup and Colombia's victory over France proved the tournament is wide open, says forward Toni Duggan.

The Lionesses face Colombia - the group's lowest-ranked side - in their final group game on Wednesday.

"The Colombia win didn't change our goal. We still want to win this World Cup and we still can," said Duggan.

"Colombia are tough but that's the beauty of the World Cup - everyone can beat everyone."

England began their campaign with a 1-0 loss to France, who are third in the world, but then recovered with a 2-1 win over 25th-ranked Mexico on Saturday in Moncton.

They now face a Colombia side who, despite being 28th in the world, sit top of Group F after drawing 1-1 with Mexico in their opening match and then producing the shock of the tournament with a 2-0 victory over France.

With three teams progressing to the second round from four of the six groups in the World Cup, the battle to qualify remains wide open with one match to play.

Sixth-ranked England will probably need at least a point against Colombia to be sure of their qualification.

They will draw confidence from their performance in the win over Mexico, where forward Fran Kirby scored the opener in her first World Cup start.

The Reading striker, 21, is the only player in England's squad from the second tier of the Women's Super League. Kirby quit football four years ago after suffering from depression following the death of her mother.

But she said she wants to create "more memories" in her first major tournament.

"Colombia is an even bigger game for us now with their result against France," Kirby said.

"We are buzzing and the mood is going to be great but we need to make sure we keep focus and get the job done in Montreal."
