St Johnstone have completed the signing of Motherwell striker John Sutton on a pre-contract agreement.

The 31-year-old Englishman has signed a two-year deal at McDiarmid Park beginning on 1 July.

Sutton is believed to have rejected offers from both Motherwell and Kilmarnock in favour of joining Tommy Wright's Saints.

The Perth team return to training on Wednesday for pre-season work ahead of their Europa League qualifying games.

Sutton scored 13 goals in 43 appearances last season.

St Johnstone will be his sixth Scottish club, having had spells at Raith Rovers, Dundee, St Mirren, Motherwell (twice) and Hearts.
