Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger must decide on his future amid interest from Manchester United, his Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says.

Germany international Schweinsteiger, 30, previously played under United manager Louis van Gaal at Bayern.

"If Schweinsteiger wants to stay here then that's perfect. He's a top player," Guardiola said.

"Of course I am planning to work with Basti next season. Basti has to decide. I told him, the future depends on you."

World Cup winner Schweinsteiger came through the youth ranks at Bayern and has spent 13 seasons at the German club, winning the Bundesliga title eight times and the Champions League once.

United have expressed an interest in Schweinsteiger as Van Gaal looks to add to the capture of former PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay and strengthen his midfield.

Schweinsteiger has been in London this week, supporting girlfriend Ana Ivanovic, the seventh seed who lost in the second round of the women's singles at Wimbledon.
