Dumbarton have completed the signing of former Hamilton Academical and Wigan Athletic midfielder Jon Routledge.

The Englishman, 25, has signed a one-year deal with the Scottish Championship club.

Sons boss Stevie Aitken has also persuaded Celtic defender Calum Waters, 19, to join on a one-year loan.

"I'm delighted to have signed Calum and I'm grateful to Celtic for their co-operation," Aitken told the Dumbarton, external website.

"He's a highly rated player and everyone at Celtic speaks highly of him so when he became available to us, it was a no-brainer to add Calum to the squad."

Routledge spent 10 years at Liverpool's academy before leaving to join Wigan Athletic where he made just one appearance in two and a half years.

He made 17 appearances last season for Hamilton Accies, his second spell at the club.
